Stories and comments from a Cairns Resident.
Job list going down
So yesterday I managed to get the various pages that I had people using paid links on working again. This was caused by the migration to the new web host and the permalink structure. Once I changed the permalink structure back to the default, everything worked again and my paid link customers are happy again – always good!
Got several loads of washing done yesterday and hung out then just as I’m typing this the rain is coming down drenching it – Murphy’s lawto say the least.
Last night, Matt and I wen to go and see AstroBoy and had dinner at Fasta Pasta in Cairns. Fasta Pasta is Matts favourite restaurant, every time he goes there; he has ravioli bolognaise with a small Coke and ice cream for under $10.00 so it’s a pretty good deal and affordable too!
The movie cost more than Matt’s dinner but for a cartoon movie, it was pretty good. Matt found it scary in a few parts but he did sit through it and enjoyed it all up. His new phrase is now “What?? I have machine guns in my butt??”
Today, we’ve got Matt’s room to clean and then go get a few things from the shops. His electric toothbrush needs new battery and then we’re pretty much free for the rest of the day.

Australia Day breakfast at Trinity Beach
about 2 weeks ago - 1 comment
I took Matthew down to the Australia Day breakfast this morning at Trinity Beach and he had a ball.
Although the day is a pretty dreary one, we managed to avoid the rain and had a great free breakfast put on by Rotary which consisted of sausage, egg, bacon and a slice of bread, which Matt More >
Training wheels off!
about 3 weeks ago - 3 comments
Yesterday was spent with Matthew as he asked on Saturday to have the training wheels removed from his bike.
He had asked for this previously, about 12 months ago – maybe a bit longer; and the result was that he asked for them to be put back on again so I treated this with skepticism. He More >
Boys boat trip

Matt wanted to go fishing in the boat yesterday, so I readied the boat and we headed down to Bluewater boat ramp. Mat in the past, has not liked the boat due to the sound made when it pushed off the sand, and wanted to go home. This time he enjoyed the push off and More >
Lots on this weekend
about 3 months ago - No comments
Well, I’ve got lots on this weekend, but not really going anywhere.
There’s a trip to Cairns Central involved to take something back to the shops; then back home to get this site sorted out. Since the migration, there’s been very few issues but still they are major ones from my perspective.

A busy day…

Well, as noted yesterday, I took Matt fishing at the mouth of the Barron River this morning.
We left pretty much on time at 7:30am and got there a bit before 8:00am and although the fish weren’t biting, we did have a good time (mental note, never again buy Instant Bait unless in the boat and More >
Taking Matt fishing tomorrow
about 4 months ago - No comments
While I was getting a new flask at BCF today, Matt and I came across a little spin outfit which he fell in love with. When I looked at it, it had a really smooth reel with 5 ball bearings in it and a 5.1:1 ratio.
The rod was nice and light and they were on More >
Seriously proud of Matt
about 5 months ago - No comments
I am seriously proud of little Matt tonight; I took him to the other side of town to sign up for the Milo In2Cricket program which starts here in Cairns in a few weeks.
We got there early to the sign on and they were setting up a bowing machine and the tables for kids to More >
Cairns Central to charge for parking
about 6 months ago - 3 comments
Cairns Central shopping centre is to start charging customers for the privilege of parking their cars. The ticket dispensers are already in place at the ramp to the cinema car park and also where people will be going into the undercover carpark where the railway station is.
I feel that any parking must be free for More >
Getting Withdrawal…

It’s mid May and in northern Queensland, that mean that the mackeral are not far off from making their presence felt here on our offshore and inshore reefs.
Similar to last year when I intended targeting them seriously as a Winter fish; the wind, rain and swell picked up to the point that I was not More >
X-Men Beginnings: Wolverine

Well I bit the bullet today and went to see this movie; after hearing mixed reactions to the movie, I wanted to find out for myself.
Paid my $25 odd to get a ticket, coke and popcorn, then settled in for the movie. To be honest, the hype surrounding the movie I found is a bit More >
