Man, I just cannot win these days…
It all started last Friday; Had the car booked in for a service and also to get the muffler replaced on the Falcon. The muffler couldn’t be replaced any more, it had a big hole and to be honest, it was embarrassing.
Took the car to Clifton Beach Service Centre at Smithfield, the guys there did a great job on the car last time so after I confirmed that they could do muffler work, got the car booked in for Friday.
The replacement of the mid section of the muffler and also the service set me back $410.00; the car is runnign a lot better and thankfully as well as obviously quieter as a result.
The next on the list was to get a new mower as with the last week of rain that we;ve had here in Cairns, wet season is well and truly on it’s way. The old mower was well over 10 years old and had finally bitten the dust due to the fuel tank getting a hole in it, so I decided to replace it today.
On the way out this morning Matt and I wen to a few car dealers to get some information concerning new cars as the Jeep is just getting too expensive with everything that I want on it, so all options have to be considered. In a nutshell I will probably go with the Ford Ranger as the Ford guy was the most interested in our enquiries. We also went to Toyota to check out the Hilux SR5 and also the Isuzu dealer for the D-Max as well. The Toyota guy only seemed interested in getting us out the door as quickly as possible (not what I want to experience when a vehicle book price is $51k), the Isuzu guy was grossly under equipped, having next to no brochures and although not his fault; a ‘half arsed’ effort all up.
The Ford guy had brochures and took an interest giving us options on what we could have and different ways to approach vehicle shortages; in short the guy we spoke to was interested in the sale even though I made it clear that we weren’t buying this year. Apparently both Telstra and Ergon are buying two Rangers per month to run between Cairns and Cape York at the moment and they can be made to look a really nice vehicle for not much more than the book price; so we’ll probably go with the Ranger at this stage.
So after that we had lunch at SubWay and headed back to Smithfield to get some stuff for dinner.
Then we ran into Jacinda and ended up going back into town to do a job for her, so our dinner shop got put on the back burner.
I then went to Bunnings to get a new Mower and picked up a Talon 4 stroke mower for $339.00 and due to not being able to get the mower box into the boot, decided to grab one of their free trailer hires. things went downhill from here very quickly…
I should have checked and it probably would have been irrelevant after hooking it up and power going to the trailer, but on leaving the car park I noticed that my indicators didn’t have the click, click that I normally would expect.
After reaching home and unloading the mower I checked the blinkers; this resulted in no blinkers – GREAT!! I headed back to Bunnings to return the trailer and unhooked the trailer with faint hopes that the blinkers would come back, but no show – great they had shorted my blinkers.
After telling the guy on the trailer hire desk about it, I went and get my depoist back and then asked to speak to management about my blinkers. Thankfully, Bunnings agreed to pay the repair fee but I still have to pay it and I am without my car until they are fixed. So this is on the agenda for Monday to find someone to repair them.
So all up I’ve spent this weekend around the $750 mark and there is still however much to repair the indicators. I was just too pissed off to look at the fuses in the car but that is on the cards for tomorrow and hopefully all it will be is a trip to SuperCheap to have that replaced, but with no tick, tick when using the indicators; it’s probably more than just a fuse
