Happy Mothers Day everyone!
Posted by: | CommentsFirst and most importantly, Happy Mothers Day to all those Mothers out there today! I know that Matt is excited to give his Mum her present this morning.
The “Minister for Finance, Misery and Social Activities” has already placed her order for breakfast in bed (but NOT before 8:30am) consisting of bacon, mushrooms, sausages, grilled tomato, hash browns, egg and toast.
Gotta get this done before the kids wake up or they will want to help and I will have a mess from one end of the kitchen to the other; none of them are ‘clean cooks’ and follow in their Mothers footsteps of making any meal a 2 dishwasher load clean-up. Still with a bit of luck I will be able to get this out of the way without any “assistance”
On the other side, I am now only just over 2 weeks (18 days) away from getting my Ford Ranger, and Matt and I are both excited. We’re already planning our first couple of trips away – bring it ON!!!
Good day
Posted by: | CommentsWell, I thought about this last night but only spoke to Matt about it this morning.
I thought that he would like to go and see a movie today, namely How To Train Your Dragon as it was a kiddie flick and there have been several good reports about it, so I asked him and he jumped at it; then I asked if he would like to see IronMan 2 instead and he didn’t even hesitate! That’s my boy, blow away the kiddie flick for the action flick!
So I booked the tickets online for the movie and we headed off at 10:00am for the 10:40am screening. Top of our list was to make a toilet stop as it’s no fun taking kids to the cinema when they need to go to the toilet half way through, then there was the popcorn and coke pack to accompany the movie with IronMan cup and huge (fridge) magnet on the popcorn box.
Matt loves his popcorn, and today was no exception; we were nearly half way through the huge box before the movie even started!
All up he sat glued to the movie the whole way through and enjoyed it despite a few parts getting “scary”; I got him to move the drink / arm rest to an upright position and he lay down on my lap until the scary bits were over.
Once we got home, we took Max for a walk and also took his yellow ‘bouncy ball’ as well to the park and wore him out, poor dog hasn’t had a walk all week and he really appreciated being off his lead and being able to blow a few cobwebs out of his system and it also helped Matt to wear out the effects of the Coke and popcorn chasing him as well
They both had a ball this afternoon and you can always tell when you’ve worn Max out as he doesn’t pull on his lead on the way back home, he certainly didn’t today.
After that we went home and then started cleaning up Matt’s disaster of a room; honestly, is there a 5 year old on the planet that doesn’t have a room resembling downtown Afghanistan after a bomber has struck?
Anyway, that’s all for today as I now have a tequila and fresh lime to finish and FooFighters playing while I write this; have a good weekend everyone!
Happy Anzac Day all
Posted by: | CommentsWell, I hope that all my Australian and New Zealand visitors had a happy Anzac Day and that we all paused to remember why the day exists.
Asides from this, our day was spent having a rare day where we didn’t have to do anything or go anywhere; and it was a nice change. The minister for finance spent the day watching movies, Matt and I spent the day checking out 4WD stuff on the ARB web site, watching the free live concert webcast of his favourite band Chickenfoot, then we took Max for a walk and that was pretty much it for the day.
The Chickenfoot concert was great and an absolute bonus being free; the show went for just over an hour with the guys doing a cover of Hendrix’s Foxy Lady which Matt loved as well – I have quite the little rocker on my hands here
Chickenfoot for those who don’t know are made up of the following band members:
- Sammy Hagar – Lead vocals (ex VanHalen)
- Joe Satriani – Guitar
- Chad Smith – Drums (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
- Mike Anthony – Bass (ex VanHalen)
Now if these guys don’t know how to rock, then nobody does and they didn’t disappoint by any means! From the opening number of Aveneida Revolucion to the pop lines of their latest single in My Kinda Girl, the bad simply went off and it was evident that they feed off and run on each others company. Below are some screen captures that I took during the webcast:
You just don’t appreciate how good a guitarist Joe Satriani is until you’ve seen him play live; I doubt that I have seen anyone play so faultlessly so fast ever! I’ve watched video of Yngwie Malmsteen and seen the master Eric Clapton play live, and I am sure they could not play as fast as Satriani did.
I swear that if these guys ever come to Australia – I am there, even if I have to fly to Sydney to do it, it will be one hell of a show to say the least.
Other than that, this was pretty much how we spent Anzac Day; did you get up to anything that you’d like to let me know about? If so, feel free to leave a comment below.
