Busy week ahead
Posted by: | CommentsWow, I’m sure that I have the week from hell ahead of me…
Megan from imaginif has asked me to look at a problem with her forum; my boss called today and asked me to do a mailout which involves me folding and stuffing in excess of 2000 letters into envelopes. The upside is that my boss is going to pay me some extra money for the mailout; I just need to try and hold onto my sanity while I am doing it.
At least if nothing else it will be more money towards the Ford Ranger which looks like happening around May to June.
I am not looking forward to the coming week as it is effectively starting tomorrow and it’s going to be an early one starting at 5:00am, the time that I usually get up Monday to Friday. If nothing else it will mean that the time flies that little bit faster as I am going to be that busy it will not be funny.
I just need to not “kill” any clients (I so need to have a break for a bit now; I haven’t had any time off since I think late March / early April last year?) and hold it together until I can get the Ranger and then take a fortnights leave and get it dirty with some off road trips, I’d love to do a quick 4 day run to Weipa for some fishing, but I will need to see how everything goes money wise before I can look forward to that.
Project Hotel Shampoo
Posted by: | Comments
I opened my email tonight to an email from my friend Megan who runs Imaginif.com.au and she has started in Cairns something that I think is a great idea.
Here’s the idea in a nutshell; you know all those little bottles of shampoo or soap that you see when you go away? Well, Megan is starting a drive to have them collected and donated to benefit kids who are entering the care of Department of Communities.
Megan explains how the system works:
You pay for your complimentary motel bathroom products in your room tariff so put the unopened ones to use: comfort packs for abused children in out of home care.
Too many children enter the care of the Department of Communities without the bare essentials, let alone the expected comforts that we take for granted: shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, skin lotion, etc.
Funding deficits, supply or even geography often impede the ability to ensure that our kids in care have their own supplies of personal products. Let’s change this.
For more details on the project and how you can drop off the unused soaps, shampoo etc from your next weekend away, visit her web site here.
